There are a lot of great goals scored in World Football. We could talk about Messi, Ronaldo, Pele, Kiatisuk Senamuang, etc. But we can’t forget the few stragglers. They are the unsung heroes of the sport.
Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored some of the greatest goals in the history of the sport. He is one of the most accomplished players of all time and lifts his game to new heights when a game is important. One of his most memorable goals was a hat trick against Spain during the Euro 2021 final.
Messi
Lionel Messi is the best player in world football and has scored some of the best goals in history. His La Liga goal against Getafe in 2007 is arguably one of the best of all time. Messi, who has scored hundreds of goals for Barcelona, was inspired by Diego Maradona in scoring the goal. His dribble and audacious finish send the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Pele
Pele is considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the game, with 757 goals in 756 international matches. He mainly played for the Brazilian team Santos but scored for various other teams as well.
Kiatisuk Senamuang
Kiatisuk Senamuang is a Thai footballer who has a record of 79 goals in more than 100 international games. Despite having a very humble background, he managed to become an international superstar for his country. He played for a variety of different clubs in Malaysia and England and was nicknamed “Thai Zico” by his fans. Kiatisuk has now turned his hand to coaching after retiring from playing in 2007.
Siphiwe Tshabalala
The goal that Siphiwe Tshabalala scored against Mexico in the 2010 World Cup opened the tournament in an incredible way. The strike came from behind the Mexican defense with a brilliant gathered effort into the top corner. The goal was hailed as one of the best in world football history. The game was a thrilling spectacle and Tshabalala’s goal ignited a continent.
Hossam Hassan
As captain of Egypt’s national team, Hassan started all six games and scored four goals in the 2006 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Of these four goals, three came in the knockout stages, while the fourth was the opening goal of the QFs. Hassan was named player of the tournament.
Maxi Rodriguez
Among the best goals ever scored by a player is the wonder strike by Maxi Rodriguez. The Argentinian scored in the 2006 World Cup in Brazil. He received the ball on his chest outside of the penalty area and struck it past the keeper to score a sensational goal. His strike was so powerful that it won the Puskas Award.
